We at Kurukshetra have always stood by our ideals to offer the best possible service to our guests over the years. Our team is committed to make you feel at home when you are here with us. Right from the moment you walk into our campus, you can always count on us when you need help.
Kindly note that registration for accommodation starts from December-25th onwards.
To all the other participants who are eagerly looking forward to Kurukshetra, the hospitality team is ready as ever to offer assistance. Feel free to contact the Hospi Desk anytime during Kurukshetra. Afterall, our primary goal is to ensure that you take home not only your prizes and certificates, but also pleasant memories of a lifetime!
- Hospitality services will be available from 6 a.m on 20th January to 8 p.m. on 23rd January, 2010.
- Only out-station participants will be provided accommodation services.
- Participants must register online for availing accommodation.
- Accommodation will be provided on a sharing basis. Any requests for individual rooms will not be entertained. However, we will try to accommodate students from the same college together in rooms and dorms.
- There are various categories of rooms and dormitories.
- Allotment of rooms and dorms are at the discretion of the hospitality team.
- Accommodation Charges:
- Refundable Deposit – Rs.250 (Applicable to all).
- Boys: Rooms- Rs.350.
- Boys: Dorms- Rs.250.
- Girls: Rs.350.
- Services will be offered on "First Register First Serve" basis.
- Accommodated students can have their food at their own expense in canteens and food stalls available. Food will not be provided by the kurukshetra2010 team.
Mattresses and buckets will be provided. However, Participants are encouraged to carry their own blankets since it is the month January and nights might be cold.
Random checks will be made to avoid any illegal stay in the campus. Any participant failing to produce his/her Accommodation Receipt will be fined and disqualified.
Participants are responsible for their belongings during their stay.
Neither the Kurukshetra 2010 hospitality team nor the institute will take responsibility for any loss of property incurred.
General participants:
- On reaching Anna University Chennai, report to the registration desk.
- Register and get Kurukshetra2010 ID (K! ID) card.
- Your K! ID is a must for all events and workshops.
- Your K! ID is also a must to receive any prize money, certificates, O.D. forms, etc
- Participants registered online will simply have to report their online username (used in www.kurukshetra.org.in) to register, making the whole process quicker & easier.
Participants availing accommodation:
Online Registration:
- Carefully go through the instructions for availing accommodation. Fill in the online registration form with genuine details.
- After registration, you will receive a mail. Follow the instructions given.
- On submission of required documents, your accommodation will be confirmed and the confirmation mail will be sent to you with the pdf of accommodation form.
- Print and bring 2 copies of this pdf page when coming to kurukshetra 2010. Failure of this will lead to cancellation of your online registration.
When in Anna University
- On reaching Anna University Chennai, report immediately to the Registration Desk.
- It is mandatory to bring your college id and two passport/stamp size photographs.
- Accommodation fee (as specified in the instruction page) will be collected.
- After registration and payment of applicable fees, rooms/dormitories will be allotted by the Kurukshetra 2010Hospitality team.
- During check-out, the participants are required to return all the utilities (provided to them at the time of check-in) in order to receive their Refundable-deposit.
By Bus
- Board 19G opposite the railway station and ask for Anna University.(Low Frequency)
- Board PP21 at the bus stop just outside the railway station and ask for Anna University/Gandhi Mandapam.(Low Frequency)
- Board any bus at the bus stop just outside the railway station and reach Broadway Bus Stand. Board 21G from Broadway and ask for Anna University.(High Frequency - recommended)
By Train
- There is no direct train to Anna University. You have to reach Guindy and then board a bus to Anna University.
- Trains to Guindy depart from the Park Town Railway Station behind the Government Hospital, opposite the Chennai Central Railway Station..
- Come out of the Guindy Railway Station(by taking a right in the crossover intended for pedestrians) and cross the road using the subway, board M21G, 21G, PP21, M19, M49, 54F, 577, 549 and ask for Anna University. Or you can take a share auto to Anna University which would cost you Rs. 10.
- You can also board the MRTS(Flying train) from the Park Town railway station and alight at Kasturibai Nagar Railway Station from where you can catch a Share auto or a bus next to the Madhya Kailash Temple outside the Kasturibai Nagar station to Anna University.
By Auto/Taxi
- In case you have too much luggage, try Auto or Taxi. You can also avail the facility of prepaid auto service .The fare will be about Rs.120.
- State the destination as “Anna University Kotturpuram Gate”.
From Egmore Railway Station
By Bus
- In Egmore, near Panthion Road, Haals Road junction, you can get 23C and the frequency of this bus is high. Travel time might be 45-50 minutes.
By Train
- You can take Electric train to Guindy. From Koyambedu/CMBT
- CMBT is Chennai Moffusil Bus Terminus. Lot of buses are available either directly to Anna University or indirectly via T. Nagar or Guindy.
- Board bus 23M, PP49, T70, and 149 which come directly to Anna University.
- Board bus to T. Nagar(27C, M27) and get 5B, 19C, 19B to Anna University.
- Board bus to Guindy(M70, M70D, B70, C70, D70, M170C, 170C) and board M21G, 21G, PP21, M19, M49, 54F, 577, 549 to Anna University. Or you can take a share auto to Anna University which would cost you Rs. 10 – Recommended.
From Kathipara Junction
- Persons coming from southern districts of Tamil Nadu can get down at Kathipara Junction.
- Board 21G, PP21 to Anna University - Recommended.
- Board any bus to Guindy(next stop) and catch M21G, 21G, PP21, M19, M49, 54F, 577, 549 to Anna University. Or you can take a share auto to Anna University which would cost you Rs. 10.
Q. WHAT DOCUMENTS SHOULD I BRING IN ORDER TO PARTICIPATE IN KURUKSHETRA 2010?
It is of absolute importance that you carry your Institute Identity Card (OR) Bonafide Certificate with you at all times when inside the campus. Apart from this, participants may be required to bring a few validating documents for some events if the Event rules require them to do so. Please read the rules of the events very carefully.
Q.WHAT DOCUMENTS SHOULD I BRING TO AVAIL accommodation IN KURUKSHETRA 2010?
You must bring the printout of the completed accommodation form (which will be mailed to you once you have registered for accommodation and completed accommodation procedure) in order to avail accommodation during KURUKSHETRA2010.Also bring two recent passport size photographs.
Q. WHAT IS THE FIRST THING I SHOULD DO ON ENTERING THE CAMPUS?
All participants should register and collect their K ID from the registration desk.Outstation participants who have confirmed accommodation should report at the registration desk, where required formalities including checking of documents, allotment of rooms, etc will be completed.
Q. WHERE DO I STAY AND WHAT IS THE PROCEDURE?
You must stay only in the allotted room in the appropriate block. On producing your K ID and accommodation receipt, the volunteer in the respective block, will guide you to your room.The procedure is given in detail in the hospitality homepage.
Q. I HAVE REGISTERED FOR ACCOMMODATION BUT I AM ON THE WAITING LIST. WHAT SHOULD I DO?
After the deadline for submission of documents of proof for accommodation (January 5), those who have not submitted the required documents will be removed from the accommodation queue and the waitlisted participants will be upgraded based on availability. These upgraded participants will be notified by mail and should submit their documents of proof on or before January 10th, failing which they will also be removed and further upgrading will continue.
If you are still waitlisted when arriving for KURUKSHETRA 2010, please contact the accommodation desk to check the status of your accommodation request. While we will make all efforts to offer accommodation to you, we suggest that waitlisted participants also make alternate arrangements, for which we will provide suggestions.
Q. WHEN CAN I ARRIVE AT THE CAMPUS?
Accommodation & Hospitality services will be available from 6a.m on 20th January, 2010 and not earlier than that.
Q. WHERE DO I EAT?
Canteens and food stalls will be open throughout the day, offering different varieties of food. The participants can have their food at their own expense at the canteens and/or food stalls.
Q. I HAVE A FRIEND STAYING IN THE COLLEGE HOSTEL. CAN I STAY WITH HIM/HER?
No. Staying with acquaintances is strictly prohibited and if found, disciplinary action will be taken against the student of CEGC by the College authorities. In addition, the participant will be asked to vacate immediately and alternate accommodation will not be provided. The concerned participant will also be prohibited from participating in any event/workshop/lecture.
Q. WHAT ABOUT THE SECURITY OF MY BELONGINGS?
Participants are responsible for the security of their belongings during their stay. Neither the Kurukshetra ‘2010 team nor the institute will take responsibility for any loss.
Q. WHERE SHOULD I GO IN CASE OF HEALTH PROBLEMS, IF ANY?
A health centre is available inside the campus. You can make use of it in case of any medical problems. In case of any illness, you or your team members can contact the volunteers and we shall ensure immediate attention.
Q. HOW TO CHECK OUT?
The participants are required to return all the utilities (provided to them at the time of check-in) and submit a NO-DUES clearance from the respective block in-charges in order to receive their Refundable-deposit.
Q. ARE THERE ATMs INSIDE THE CAMPUS?
There are SBI, CANARA and INDIAN bank ATMs available in the campus near the main Canteen.
